Specifications, compatibility and ordering information

SC APC 10dB Single-Mode Fixed Fiber Optic Attenuator

This SC APC 10dB Single-Mode Fixed Fiber Optic Attenuator introduces a fixed 10 dB reduction in optical power through an SC/APC connection. It is used where the received signal level is higher than required and a known, permanent attenuation value is needed.

The plug-in male-to-female structure allows the attenuator to be installed directly between an SC/APC connector and a compatible adapter or equipment port. It is particularly suitable for single-mode access networks, FTTH and PON links using SC/APC interfaces.

Why Use a 10dB Attenuator?

A 10 dB fixed attenuator is intended for links where the required reduction in received optical power has already been determined. It provides a simple way to lower signal level without changing the transmitter or adding an electrically controlled attenuation device.

The attenuation value should be selected from the actual optical power budget. If the link requires only a smaller power reduction, a different fixed attenuation value should be used rather than installing 10 dB by default.

Typical Applications

  • FTTH access networks

  • Passive optical networks

  • Optical receiver power adjustment

  • Fiber distribution boxes and ODF systems

  • Telecommunication equipment connections

  • Single-mode SC/APC fiber links

In SC/APC distribution connections, the attenuator can be used with a compatible SC APC Simplex Single-Mode Fiber Adapter. For access-network deployment scenarios, see our FTTH Access Network solution.

Check the Link Before Installation

Confirm that the connection uses SC/APC interfaces and that 10 dB is the required attenuation value for the measured optical power level. The connector type alone is not enough to determine the correct attenuator value.

For related SC/APC cabling, see the SC APC OS2 Simplex Fiber Patch Cord. When requesting a quotation, provide the interface type, required attenuation value and quantity.
