LC UPC 5dB Single-Mode Fixed Fiber Optic Attenuator
This LC UPC 5dB Single-Mode Fixed Fiber Optic Attenuator provides a fixed 5 dB reduction in optical power through a compact LC/UPC plug-in connection. It is used when the received optical level needs to be reduced by a known amount without introducing an electrically controlled variable attenuator.
The male-to-female LC structure allows the attenuator to be inserted directly between an LC/UPC connector and a compatible adapter or equipment port, making it suitable for distribution frames, cabinets, test setups and other single-mode fiber connections.

When Does a 5dB Fixed Attenuator Make Sense?
A 5 dB fixed attenuator is appropriate when the required optical power reduction is already known and does not need to change during operation. It provides a simpler connection than a variable optical attenuator when only one defined attenuation value is required.
Before installation, confirm that the link uses LC/UPC interfaces and that 5 dB is the correct attenuation value for the measured optical power budget. The attenuator should not be selected only by connector type.
Typical Applications
Passive optical network power adjustment
Telecommunication fiber links
Optical receiver power reduction
Fiber distribution frames and cabinets
Laboratory and equipment testing
Single-mode LC equipment connections
The plug-in attenuator can be used with compatible fiber adapters in distribution and equipment-side connections. For access-network applications, see our FTTH Access Network solution.
Check the Optical Power Before Ordering
Confirm the LC/UPC interface, single-mode link, required attenuation value and quantity before ordering. If the correct attenuation level is uncertain, provide the transmitter output power, receiver input range or measured link power so the required fixed attenuation can be checked before selection.
