Specifications, compatibility and ordering information

The 1x8 FC Multimode ABS Box FBT Fiber Coupler provides one multimode optical input and eight output channels in a protected module format. The fused biconical taper device is housed inside an ABS enclosure, with connectorized fiber leads extending from the module for connection to the surrounding optical system. This format is suited to applications that require a multiport multimode coupling or power-distribution point while keeping the optical component protected inside equipment, a cabinet or another controlled installation space. The 1x8 arrangement defines the port layout, but the final coupler specification also depends on the optical characteristics required by the system.

Project selection should therefore consider the operating wavelength, multimode fiber specification and required coupling ratio together with the FC connector configuration. These parameters are particularly important for FBT devices because different wavelength or coupling requirements can represent materially different optical builds even when the external ABS package and connector count appear the same. Pigtail diameter and length also affect how the module can be routed and installed, especially when several connectorized leads must be organized inside equipment or a limited enclosure. The connector finish, available interface space and required optical performance should be checked against the equipment or test platform before the finished assembly is defined.

For project quantities, the quotation should be based on a complete optical configuration rather than the 1x8 port count alone. Buyers should specify the operating wavelength, multimode fiber type, coupling ratio, FC connector finish, pigtail construction and length, together with any insertion-loss, uniformity or other acceptance limits required by the project. If several couplers will be used in the same system, these requirements should be established as one approved specification so production, incoming inspection and installation can be evaluated against the same criteria. This gives both the buyer and supplier a clearer technical basis for quotation and reduces ambiguity when the same configuration is required again later.
