Specifications, compatibility and ordering information

The 2x8 SC/APC Cassette PLC Fiber Splitter provides two optical input paths and eight output channels in a protected cassette-style module. Based on planar lightwave circuit technology, the splitter is intended for single-mode optical distribution where a project requires a 2xN configuration rather than the more common single-input 1xN arrangement. SC/APC connectorized pigtails provide defined interfaces for the input and output sides, while the cassette housing protects the internal PLC assembly and fiber transitions before the pigtails are routed through the surrounding distribution hardware.

The dual-input structure is the main selection difference on this product. A 2x8 splitter may be specified for network designs that use dual-feed or redundant optical paths, but the actual role of each input should be defined by the project topology rather than assumed from the splitter alone. The cassette module must also fit the available space inside the fiber distribution box, cabinet or panel, with enough routing capacity for both input fibers and all eight output pigtails. Connector polish, pigtail diameter and length, fiber grade, module dimensions and the required optical budget should therefore be checked together before the configuration is approved.

For project and quantity orders, provide the required 2x8 port configuration together with the intended use and identification of both input paths. Confirm the SC/APC interfaces, single-mode fiber specification, input and output pigtail construction, pigtail lengths and any defined insertion-loss, uniformity, return-loss or other optical acceptance limits. The port-label sequence is also important where both inputs are connected within the same distribution system. These details give purchasing, installation and inspection teams a common specification for quotation, enclosure integration and acceptance of the finished splitter assembly.

When preparing the RFQ, identify how the two input paths will be used and provide the required port map together with the host enclosure information. Cassette dimensions, pigtail routing, connector configuration and optical limits should be reviewed as one installed assembly rather than selecting the splitter only by its 2x8 channel count.
