Specifications, compatibility and ordering information
The 100G QSFP28 SWDM4 optical transceiver is designed for 100G Ethernet transmission over duplex multimode fiber, combining four optical wavelengths at 850, 880, 910 and 940nm onto a single LC fiber pair. It supports up to 75m over OM3, 100m over OM4 and 150m over OM5, giving data center operators and network integrators a way to deploy 100G links without moving to the parallel MPO cabling normally associated with SR4. For projects already built around duplex LC multimode infrastructure, this cabling difference can be more important than the QSFP28 form factor itself.
When this module is evaluated as part of a 100G optical transceiver deployment, buyers should first confirm the installed fiber grade and actual channel length. An OM3 link, an OM4 link and an OM5 link do not have the same supported reach, even though the module and LC interface remain unchanged. The target switch, router or NIC should also be checked for module compatibility and any required coding before a batch specification is approved.
For larger orders, the approved product configuration should remain clear from quotation through delivery. The SWDM4 version, duplex LC interface, required fiber grade, compatibility programming, quantity, labeling, packaging and documentation should be recorded with the order, together with the agreed payment and delivery terms. On receipt, the purchasing or warehouse team should check the product identification, QSFP28 form factor, LC interface, quantity, labels and agreed coding before the modules are released for deployment. This is particularly useful where several 100G module types are being purchased for the same project and the housings are visually similar.

For bulk procurement, the fiber grade and LC link design should be treated as part of the approved product specification rather than checked only after delivery. Keeping the SWDM4 optical type, OM3/OM4/OM5 requirement and compatibility configuration consistent across the quotation, PO and received batch makes it easier to prevent a visually similar but technically different 100G module from being introduced into the project.
