Product Overview
The structure of the GK/S optical cable consists of 250μm optical fibers housed in loose tubes made of high-modulus material, with the tubes filled with a water-blocking compound. A metal strength member forms the center of the cable core; for certain fiber counts, this metal member is coated with an extruded layer of polyethylene (PE). The loose tubes (and filler rods) are stranded around the central strength member to form a compact, circular cable core, with the interstices filled with water-blocking material. A double-sided plastic-coated aluminum tape (APL) or steel tape (PSP) is applied longitudinally, followed by the extrusion of a polyethylene sheath to complete the cable.
