Specifications, compatibility and ordering information
800G OSFP 2×DR4 Optical Transceiver
The GK-OSFP-800G-2DR4 is an 800Gb/s pluggable optical module developed for short-reach, high-capacity connections in AI computing clusters, cloud data centers and high-performance Ethernet networks.
Its optical interface consists of two independent 400G DR4 paths. Each path carries four 100G PAM4 optical lanes through an MPO-12/APC connector. Together, the two interfaces provide an aggregate optical capacity of 800Gb/s over OS2 single-mode fiber.
The module supports links up to 500 meters when used with the correct single-mode cabling, host-side FEC and compatible OSFP equipment. Before ordering, GK Fiber Optic can verify the host platform, OSFP housing type, port configuration and required compatibility coding.

An 800G optical module is a high-speed optical communication module supporting a data transmission rate of 800 gigabits per second (800Gbps). As an upgrade to the 400G optical module, it primarily performs the conversion between electrical and optical signals, serving as a core "bridge" connecting AI computing clusters, data centers, and high-speed networks.

Is This the Correct 800G Module for Your Link?
This module is suitable when your network requires all of the following:
An 800G OSFP host port
A 500m or shorter single-mode fiber link
Two MPO-12/APC optical connections
An eight-lane 100G PAM4 host electrical interface
800G operation or supported 2×400G port configuration
Do not select this product only by data rate. OSFP modules may use different heatsink designs, connector arrangements, optical standards and host configurations. A single-MPO DR8 module, dual-MPO 2×DR4 module and 800G FR4 module are not automatically interchangeable.

How the 800G 2×DR4 Interface Works
On the transmit side, the module converts eight high-speed PAM4 electrical input lanes into eight parallel optical signals. These optical lanes are divided into two four-lane groups, with each group presented through one MPO-12/APC interface.
On the receive side, the module converts the eight incoming optical lanes back into electrical PAM4 signals for the host system. The two optical groups can operate as one aggregate 800G connection or in supported 2×400G configurations, depending on the capabilities and configuration of the host platform.
Typical Applications
800G Ethernet data center interconnects
AI training and inference clusters
GPU and accelerator network fabrics
Leaf-to-spine and spine-to-super-spine connections
High-performance computing networks
Cloud data center switching infrastructure
Supported 800G and 2×400G switch connections
Compatibility Information Required Before Ordering
The OSFP form factor alone does not guarantee compatibility. Please provide the following information so that the module and link configuration can be checked before shipment:
Switch, router or network adapter manufacturer
Exact equipment model and operating system version
Original transceiver part number, if available
Required port mode: 800G or 2×400G
OSFP housing type: finned-top or flat-top/RHS
Fiber length and estimated channel loss
MPO connector type, polarity and patch-cord configuration
Required compatibility coding or custom EEPROM information
Breakout operation depends on the host ASIC, firmware, port configuration and cabling architecture. Please confirm these conditions before using the module for a 2×400G link.
Testing and Quality Control
Product validation can be performed according to the approved configuration and customer requirements. Typical release checks include:

800G OSFP 2×DR4 Frequently Asked Questions
What does 2×DR4 mean?
The module contains two groups of four parallel optical lanes. Each group provides a 400G DR4 optical interface, giving the module an aggregate capacity of 800Gb/s.
What fiber is required for this 800G transceiver?
The 500m version is designed for OS2 single-mode fiber. It should not be specified as a multimode optical module.
Does the module use one or two MPO connectors?
This 2×DR4 configuration uses two MPO-12/APC optical connectors. Confirm the connector polish, key orientation and cable polarity before installation.
Can it be used as two separate 400G connections?
It may support 2×400G operation when the host port, ASIC, firmware and breakout configuration provide this capability. The module alone cannot enable an unsupported breakout mode.
Is 2×DR4 the same as an MPO-16 DR8 module?
No. Both designs may carry eight parallel optical lanes, but their connector arrangement and cabling requirements can be different. A dual MPO-12 module should not be replaced with an MPO-16 module without checking the complete optical path.
Does it support digital diagnostic monitoring?
Yes. Operating information such as module temperature, supply voltage and optical channel conditions can be accessed through the supported management interface. The exact values available depend on the CMIS implementation.
Will it work in any OSFP switch?
Not necessarily. Mechanical design, host coding, firmware, power limits, thermal requirements and port configuration must all be checked. Providing the exact switch model is the fastest way to confirm compatibility.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide the equipment manufacturer and model, required quantity, port mode, fiber distance, OSFP housing type, destination country and any compatibility or labeling requirements.
